Queen of Spain Featured in Airline Ad

Low cost Irish Airline Ryanair last week ran an advertisement in newspapers featuring an image of Queen Sofia (Queen of Spain). The airline was prompted to use the image after hearing that the Queen had traveled on a Ryanair flight.

The Royal Family were reportably none too pleased with the cheeky move by the airline. The headline in the newspaper read “Fly like a Monarch” with the airline commenting what an honour it was to have the Queen as a passenger on Spain’s fastest growing airline.

A spokesman for the Royal Family said that the Queen was upset by the advertisement. In what perhaps could be seen as a cynical effort to cover their tracks Ryanair pledged to donate five thousand euro to the Queens favourite charity.

The Royal Family refused to become involved in the ordeal rejecting any charity donation. The flight in question saw the Queen travel from Santander to Stansted using Ryanair. Her brother is currently in the UK having undergone heart surgery.
