Thousands of Scottish people are choosing to go to Murcia for the October school break. Over 130 thousand people are expected to pass through Prestwick Airport this weekend.

Recession woes are been left behind for a while as the Scots go in search of a little bit of precious sunshine. There most likely sick of listening to all the recession doomsayers populating our televisions and newspapers over the last few weeks.

Friday October 10th was the busiest day of the year so far at Prestwick Airport with the airport having to call in extra staff at short notice to deal with the demand.

The busiest destination countries are Spain, Portugal, Turkey and Florida.  Murcia is the most popular location followed by Majorca,  Frankfurt, Sanford and Berlin.

A spokesman for Preston Airport spoke of the Airports surprise that the current economic climate had not had a negative effect on passenger numbers.
